	The long cadenzas are peculiar to this type of song, as also in the "Seguidilla." The soloist originally accompanied himself on the guitar and the cadenza was not a set form of a certain number of notes, but afforded (and does even today in rural districts in Spain) the individual an opportunity to display his breath control by continuing for the longost possible time, a certain figure. The writer has heard such cadenzas rendered which made a most distressing impression upon the untutored listener because of the seemingly impossible suspension.
